General Information

At the Center for Academic Success (CAS), we believe every student deserves a place where they feel seen, supported and capable of success. Every student's journey is different and sometimes the traditional school setting is not the environment where they can best thrive. That's why CAS provides an alternative pathway that meets students where they are while helping them grow academically, socially, emotionally and behaviorally.
Program Overview

CAS offers a non-traditional, student-centered approach to education that focuses on the whole child and supports students who may have struggled in traditional school settings. There are three program options for students: K-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

Our program is built on:
  • Small class sizes and individualized instruction
  • Strong student-teacher relationships
  • Flexible academic scheduling
  • Student voice and decision-making
  • Peer support and family engagement
  • Diverse curriculum aligned to student goals, needs and learning styles
  • Instruction guided by Indiana Department of Education standards and delivered by certified teachers.

We believe every student deserves an educational environment where they feel engaged, empowered and challenged.

Our Purpose

Within a safe and caring educational environment, the Center for Academic Success (CAS) provides social, emotional, behavioral, and academic support for Fort Wayne Community Schools students who benefit from an alternative to traditional programming or expulsion.

Through the collaborative involvement of caregivers, educators, students and community partnerships, we create opportunities for each student to be successful both socially and academically.

CAS is designed to meet students where they are and support them in earning a high school diploma or making progress toward graduation through individualized pathways.

Student Support & Experience

CAS provides an environment where students can:
  • Build meaningful relationships with staff and peers
  • Access individualized academic and behavioral supports
  • Develop social and life skills alongside academics
  • Receive consistent guidance and expectations
  • Work toward a certified diploma from their home school
We maintain an environment of mutual respect where every student is supported and held to high expectations.
Our Core Beliefs

  • School should be a positive experience for all students
  • Students and staff are at their best when they feel safe and supported
  • Building positive connections with students is vital to their academic success
  • Be passionate about what we do
  • Community and family are essential building blocks to student achievement
  • Be fair and consistent

Admissions & Entry Process

Students are considered for CAS placement through a referral-based process designed to ensure the program is beneficial for the student.

Steps typically include:
  • Review of student need and program fit
  • Referral and required documentation from the student’s school
  • Academic and/or diagnostic assessment (when applicable)
  • Collaboration with school counselors and families
  • Orientation and start date scheduling
  • A probationary period to support student–program alignment during the initial transition
