For five years, Beth Dick has been a trusted part of the CAS-Nebraska community. Beth first became involved as a volunteer mentor, leading a girls’ mentoring group and meeting with students weekly in five-week sessions. She created a space where students could connect, learn and feel supported.

Her support extends beyond students. Beth recently welcomed CAS-Nebraska staff to My Little Barn for their first staff meeting of the school year. Staff spent time interacting with the animals while learning about “umwelt,” the idea that each person or animal experiences the world from their own perspective.

The experience gave staff a new way to think about understanding and connecting with the students they serve.

This year, Nebraska is piloting the Peacemaker Program at the middle school level, welcoming Peace Advocate Justin Beal to CAS-Nebraska. During Peace Week, students and staff focused on being the peace they want to see throughout our building.

This year, Nebraska is piloting the Peacemaker Program at the middle school level, welcoming Peace Advocate Justin Beal to CAS-Nebraska. During Peace Week, students and staff focused on being the peace they want to see throughout our building.

Through his work with students, Justin encourages healthy communication, positive conversations and a strong sense of community. We look forward to the continued impact of the Peacemaker Program throughout the school year.
