Young Early Childhood Center Garden Club

Garden Club is a mixed-age group of children, volunteer staff and parents that get together during lunch hours to take care of gardens and have "adventures" in Nature.

In the fall, we plant bulbs, herbs and perennials, water gardens, find bugs and listen to nature, we replace and relocate perennials (parent project), learn to identify and pull out weeds, notice the different sizes and shapes of seeds and learn to appreciate the natural life outside our school building.  In the winter/spring, we create clay signs and vases, plant winter seeds in preparation to planting outdoors, and again we weed down and prepare flower beds.  Later on, we can arrange to exchange some plant samples from one house to another  -  a "plant swap".
