Shawna  M. Davenport joined the team at Lane Middle School in 2011.  She serves “Viking Nation” in the roles of Assistant Principal, Athletic Director as well managing the annual FWCS middle school city track and field championship.  She has strong curriculum and reading knowledge that she has contributed among her school districts, past and present, throughout her career.  She earned her bachelor’s degree from Cameron University (Oklahoma) with endorsements in each of the four core subjects and subsequently moved to the Midwest to be begin her teaching career.  She spent one year in the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese schools followed by twelve years teaching language arts at Edgewood Middle School in Warsaw Community Schools.  She coached championship teams for girls’ basketball and girls’ track during her service to Warsaw Community Schools.  She earned master’s degrees in Reading Education and Elementary Education from IUSB and School Administration from IPFW. She has also served in the role of adjunct professor, teaching graduate courses in the Education department for the University of Phoenix since 2005.   She served as an assistant principal at Bremen Public Schools to grades K-5 for three years prior to her arrival at Lane Middle School.  Mrs. Davenport enjoys working in matters related to curriculum and reading, but she also likes being a middle school administrator and athletic director because of the rewards and challenges that are unique to the middle school environment.  She enjoys working with the faculty and the students at Lane Middle School.  Mrs. Davenport is a voracious reader and a lifelong learner who enjoys making jewelry, watching scholastic sports, gardening and landscaping, cooking, and dining.  Mrs. Davenport enjoys spending time with her husband, Chip and children.
