Northwood Middle School Dress Code


  1. “Spirit Wear” t-shirts and sweatshirts with Northwood logos are preferred. In addition to Spirit Wear, a solid color polo shirt is acceptable.
  2. During the winter months, long sleeve shirts may be worn under shirts. The sleeves must be a solid color and contain no designs or markings.
  3. For hygienic reasons, gym shirts may not be worn in place of dress policy shirts.
  4. Shirts may not be tied in the back, cut, or modified in anyway.

 Northwood Spirit Wear shirts can be purchased at the following locations: Northwood PTSA and Northwood Teachers/office. 


  1. Pants colors are Black or Tan (Khaki) only.
  2. Properly fitting (not tight or “skinny”) solid color bottoms.
  3. Pants (etc.) are to be worn above the hip bone. No sagging!
  4. Cotton twill, cotton/poly blends, corduroy, or wool fabric only.
  5. Shorts/skirts/jumpers/etc. must be black or tan and properly fitting and at least “finger-tip” in length (modesty). “Leggings” may not be worn underneath.


  1. Any “Spirit Wear” sweatshirt may be worn or layered over dress code policy shirts.
  2. Solid color sweatshirts/sweaters/hoodies with no logos or designs on them are permitted.
  3. Sweatshirts with full zippers and coats/jackets are not permitted to be worn during the school day. 


  1. Any shoe deemed safe and appropriate for school is acceptable.
  2. Flip flops, house slippers, and/or slides are not appropriate for school.
  3. Sandals must have a back.
  4. Shoes with shoe strings must be kept tied.


Nylon wind-pants, sweatpants, or stretch-fabric pants are not allowed.  No holes, rips, and/or tears are permitted.

Bandanas, headbands and scarfs are not permitted to be worn or visible.  NO SKINNY PANTS, YOGA PANTS, JEGGINGS or SIMILAR STRETCH MATERIALS!

Out of Dress Policy

If a student comes to school not wearing their uniform they may receive a warning, be given a chance to call home for a change of clothes and/or be offered a change of clothes.

Students that are repeatedly out of dress code may be put in ISS until clothes are brought for them. and/or receive a referral.


Northwood administrators and staff reserve the right to determine what is compliant and non-compliant in terms of this dress code policy. When students are permitted to dress out of Northwood’s Dress Code Policy, students must dress according to the FWCS dress code guidelines which can be found in the FWCS Student-Parent Handbook.
