School Counselors
FWCS school counselors support students’ academic, career, and social-emotional development while preparing them for the Monday after graduation. They guide students in setting academic and postsecondary goals, exploring Schools of Success pathways, and planning for college and career opportunities. Counselors collaborate with families and educators, advocate for students, remove barriers to success, and connect students with the resources and skills needed to thrive in school and beyond.
Naviance & College & Career Readiness at Fort Wayne Community Schools
Naviance is a leading college, career, and life readiness (CCLR) platform used by school districts nationwide to support students in planning for life after high school. The web-based tool helps students discover their strengths and interests, explore careers and post-secondary options, build personalized academic and career plans, and manage key milestones such as college applications, scholarship searches, and goal setting. Naviance also offers educators and families visibility into students’ progress and empowers informed decision-making around future pathways.
At Fort Wayne Community Schools, Naviance is an integral part of the district’s College and Career Readiness efforts. FWCS’s College and Career Readiness program supports students in establishing and pursuing meaningful post-secondary goals, whether that includes higher education, workforce entry, or military service—and equips them with the tools, resources, and guidance they need to succeed after graduation. Through Naviance, students engage in individualized planning, self-discovery assessments, career exploration, and organized college planning as part of their overall readiness experience. The platform enhances FWCS’s mission to prepare students academically and personally for the next steps in their lives and helps students and families actively track progress toward goals.
