FWCS Clothing Bank Moves to New Location - January 15, 2013
The Fort Wayne Community Schools Clothing Bank, which provides clothing to thousands of students each year, is moving to a new location.
The FWCS Clothing Bank has been located in Memorial Baptist Church at 2900 N. Anthony Blvd. for about 15 years. It will now be located at FWCS’ complex on Catalpa Street, which gives the Clothing Bank more room. Already this year, the Clothing Bank has assisted more than 800 students. The clothing bank provides clothes, shoes, coats, toiletries and other items to FWCS students in need due to poverty or a disaster, such as a fire. Students are referred to the clothing bank by a case manager or counselor at their school.
The Clothing Bank operates with the support of cash donations and donations of new and gently used clothing. The facility accepts donations throughout the year and is frequently in need of new socks and underwear (size 6 to plus sizes), personal hygiene products (soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, tampons, etc.), and cold weather items, such as coats, hats, gloves, shoes and boots in all sizes (can be new or gently used). The Clothing Bank is currently in need of pants for elementary school-age children (sizes 4-12). Any used clothing should be in good condition and suitable for students. Donations can be dropped off at the Grile Administrative Center,1200 S. Clinton St., from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
