Fort Wayne Community Schools' elementary, middle and high schools will welcome families and prospective families to visit during open houses Feb. 7, 8 and 9. The open houses are designed to assist parents in FWCS' School Choice process. On Jan. 28, parents had an opportunity to learn more about each school and meet staff members during the School Choice Fair. The open houses provide an occasion to visit the schools and learn more about the environments in each building. "We know parents take choosing a school for their child very seriously, and we want to make sure we provide every opportunity to make the right choice for their child," Superintendent Dr. Wendy Robinson said. "By visiting a school, parents can get a feel for the learning environment and the enrichment programs offered in each building." Open houses will be held from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Feb. 7, 8 and 9 at the elementary schools, with the exception of Bunche Montessori Early Childhood Center. Open house at Bunche will be from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and noon-2 p.m. on the same days as well as an additional open house from 3-5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19. Open houses at middle and high schools will be from 8-10 a.m. and 12:30-2 p.m. Feb. 7, 8 and 9. Those who did not sign up to attend an open house during the School Choice Fair should call the schools they want to visit to ensure there will be space available for tours. A complete listing of all FWCS schools can be found under the "Schools" tab at www.fortwayneschools.org. Transfer applications are due Feb. 24 for those interested in applying to a school other than a student's assigned neighborhood school. The public lottery for middle and high schools will be held at 9 a.m. March 2 at the Grile Administrative Center, 1200 S. Clinton St. The public lottery for elementary schools will be held at 9 a.m. March 23 at Grile.
