North Side student to receive car for good attendance - May 28, 2009

A North Side student will start summer break with a new set of wheels as a reward for outstanding attendance during the 2008-2009 school year. The North Side student will receive a 2000 Saturn. The car is being donated by Kelley Chevrolet, and it is the third year the auto dealer and high school have partnered to reward a student for being in school. The car will be given away during North Side's Pride Day Convocation, which begins at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 29. The give-away is expected to occur at about 2:15 p.m. "Attending school is a critical part of being successful in school," North Side Principal Chuck DeFord said. "By offering a car as a reward, we can get students excited about coming to school even if they don't always feel like it." With nearly 30,000 students, Fort Wayne Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Indiana.
