The Fort Wayne Ballet is teaming up with Bloomingdale Elementary School for a two-year program to enrich the arts curriculum, increase student interest in the arts and develop a long-term relationship between the arts community and Fort Wayne Community Schools. The partnership is being supported by a $5,000 Indiana Arts Commission Education Arts Program Grant. As part of the connection, Bloomingdale students are working with the Ballet to produce butterfly props for the spring production of "Midsummer Night's Dream." Each Thursday, members of the Fort Wayne Ballet visit Bloomingdale after school to work on the props. They will continue working together until the production on March 28 and 29. "This partnership gives our students exposure to the arts that they might not otherwise have," Bloomingdale Principal Gale Powelson said. "We are looking forward to developing this relationship in the coming years."
