Nutritious meals to be provided this summer - May 21, 2008

Fort Wayne Community Schools will sponsor the Summer Food Service Program for Children providing free meals to all children from 1-18 years old. The program was created to serve nutritious meals to children when National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program meals are not available. To ensure all children receive proper nutrition throughout the year, the program reimburses organizations that prepare and serve meals during the summer. Meals are served Monday through Friday with no meals served on weekends or July 4. With nearly 30,000 students, Fort Wayne Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Indiana. FWCS proudly allows families to choose any of its 50 schools through its successful school-choice program creating diversity in each school, including some with more than 75 languages spoken. FWCS offers seven magnet schools focusing on areas such as science and math, communication, fine arts or Montessori at the elementary and middle school level.
