Parents of students in Fort Wayne Community Schools can now pay for their child's lunch online. The Nutrition Services Department has partnered with MyNutriKids.com to allow parents to pay in advance for their child's meals to eliminate the hassle of making sure a student has money every day or the risk of lunch money getting lost. By having money in a secure, electronic account, lunch lines move faster and students have more time to focus on eating and enjoying their lunch period. The system also allows parents to view their child's account balance and monitor their child's eating history. Reports are available to show parents the dates and times their child purchased meals during the previous 30 days. The service is available for the remainder of the school year and will continue in the fall. Parents can access the site through the district's Web site at www.fwcs.k12.in.us where they will see a link to MyNutriKids.com. Parents will register at the site using the student's name and identification number as well as the school Zip Code. Families with more than one child can manage all online prepayments in one account. Payments can be made through PayPal or a major credit or debit card. In order to cover the costs associated with the online prepayment service, a convenience fee of $1.75 will be charged per transaction. This fee is regulated by and paid directly to MyNutrikids. FWCS receives no portion of the fees collected. Parents placing money into multiple meal accounts will only be assessed the $1.75 fee once per deposit transaction. More information, including step-by-step instruction on how to sign up, is available on the FWCS Nutrition Services Web site http://foodservice.fwcs.k12.in.us.
