Beginning May 8, 2007, Northrop High School will host its 16th annual Alcohol Awareness Week, which includes assemblies for each class along with other activities designed to educate students about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. The week's schedule is: May 8: 8:15 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. Freshman Assembly John Zagelmeier, Allen County Sheriff's Department 9:45 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. Sophomore Assembly John Eastes and Lilly Mikol 2:20 p.m. dismissal and Mock Crash and Rescue Northrop Front Lawn May 10: 1:20 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. Junior and Senior Assembly Steve Mason, Doug Wylie, Lilly Mikol All Week: Essay contest on the topic, "What is Your Anti-Drug?" Winners announced during the week. "Students Linking Against Alcohol and Drugs" Students sign a link pledging not to do drugs or drink alcohol. Links are connected to create a chain down the Northrop main hall. Students at other area high schools, including South Side, North Side and Churubusco, also will sign links to join with Northrop's chain for a display in a visible location that is yet to be determined.
