Fort Wayne Community Schools' students have a mild winter to thank for the day off they will have tomorrow! Friday, Jan. 12 is the end of the first semester, a day that is traditionally used to make-up any school days that were cancelled due to inclement weather. The district has had no closings so far this year. While there will be no school for students tomorrow, most FWCS staff will be on the job and schools and administrative offices will be open for business as usual. In addition, FWCS will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15, in honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Classes and administrative offices will reopen on Tuesday.

With nearly 30,000 students, Fort Wayne Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Indiana. FWCS proudly allows families to choose any of its 50 schools through its successful school-choice program creating diversity in each school, including some with more than 75 languages spoken. FWCS offers seven magnet schools focusing on areas such as science and math, communication, fine arts or Montessori at the elementary and middle school level. In high school, students can choose from the prestigious International Baccalaureate program, Project Lead the Way or New Tech Academy as well as other rigorous academic and specialty training programs.
