Nebraska to honor long-time teacher - October 12, 2006

On Oct. 27, Nebraska Elementary School will dedicate a garden area and park bench on the school grounds in memory of Phyllis Ford. Phyllis Ford taught kindergarten at Nebraska for 36 years and passed away in January of 2006. Students, staff - including former teachers, principals and support staff - along with Phyllis' family members will be celebrating her life and her dedication as a teacher in the Nebraska community. The dedication will begin at 1:30 p.m. and will feature the entire student body singing a song in her honor. A book of memories written by students and staff members will be presented to the family. Thirty-six balloons will be launched in memory of her 36 years of teaching. The school is located at 1525 Boone St. Principal is Federa Smith. Media is welcome.
