Blackhawk celebrates All-American Week - October 11, 2006

Local veterans of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict will be honored during an All-American Assembly at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11 at Blackhawk Middle School, 720 E. State Blvd. The Salute Our Troops: Present and Past event will feature the veterans in a Walk of Honor followed by remarks by Capt. Bobby W. Crocker, commander of the Army's FW Recruiting Company and an Iraq war veteran. In addition, the veterans will also speak to students in all of the Social Studies classes - grades 6, 7 and 8 - throughout the day. Most of the veterans are members of the Korean War Veterans Association, Chapter One, of Fort Wayne. Media are also invited to the All-American Lunch, featuring foot-long hot dogs!
