NSHS students taking leadership challenge - October 27, 2005
Leadership, decision-making, teamwork and communication skills will be the focus of a Challenge Leadership program that 90 students from North Side High School will participate in on Nov. 3. Ted Wiese of Wiese Training and Development, Indianapolis, will conduct the training which will take place beginning at 8 a.m. at the school, 475 W. State Blvd. According to Gregg Goewert, assistant principal, the students selected include 32 freshmen, 29 sophomores and 29 juniors. The goal of this first-time training is to develop more and better student leaders among North Side students. Wiese is a former educator who has been conducting leadership training for adults for many years. He has decided to try to do more to make a difference with youth - and is doing so in presenting workshop such as this at high schools. Students will participate in group activities that include team-building exercises. There will be a 30-minute break for lunch at about 11:30 a.m. Members of the media are welcome to attend and speak with Wiese and the students. Best time would be toward the end of the session at about 1:10 p.m.
