Fort Wayne Community Schools 2005 Teacher of the Year Teresa Lamping will be honored at a reception Monday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. in the second floor cafeteria of the Grile Administrative Center, 1200 S. Clinton St. The event is being held prior to the regularly scheduled Board of School Trustees meeting at 7 p.m., during which Lamping will be honored with a certificate and video of her accomplishments. Lamping, Board members, district officials, friends, family and past FWCS Teacher of the Year recipients will be on hand at the reception. Refreshments will be served. A preschool special education teacher at Whitney Young Earlly Childhood Center, Lamping has been instrumental in implementing an inclusion process which allows preschool special needs students to learn with their general education preschool peers. The program, Give Them Wings, focuses on helping every student reach developmentally appropriate goals through social, language, motor and cognitive skills. She began her career with FWCS in 1985. She has been named a semifinalist in the Indiana Teacher of the Year program and will be recognized with other teacher finalists on Nov. 2. NOTE TO MEDIA: You are invited to attend the reception.
