FWCS Staff Gathers to Kick-Off New School Year - August 09, 2017
Fort Wayne Community Schools staff members from every school and every department will gather to kick off the 2017-18 school year at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at the Memorial Coliseum. Teachers, administrators, support personnel and other staff members will gather to hear a beginning of the year message from Superintendent Dr. Wendy Robinson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Jennifer McCormick, Eric Doden, CEO of Greater Fort Wayne Inc., and members of the FWCS Board of School Trustees.
“We have a lot to be excited about as we begin a new school year,” Dr. Robinson said. “Friday is the first day back for most teachers, and we want to kick off the year by remembering why we are all here: It’s about the kids. Working in public education offers many opportunities, and when our children walk through the doors on Tuesday, each and every educator will be just as excited as the students to start a new year.”
Staff members will travel to the Coliseum on school buses to alleviate traffic and reduce parking issues. All school and district offices will be closed Friday morning as employees attend the kick-off. Staff members will return to their buildings for the remainder of the day following the event.
