FWCS Kicks Off Annual Riley Campaign (Tuesday, February 13, 2018)

Fort Wayne Community Schools’ students and staff are showing their support for Riley Hospital for Children by participating in the Riley Kids Caring & Sharing program.

FWCS Study Connection to Host Zumbathon 2018 Fundraiser (Wednesday, February 07, 2018)

FWCS Study Connection is hosting Zumbathon 2018 from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at North Side High School, 475 E. State Blvd. Registration is $20 at the door (cash or check). Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. The first 100 people will receive a Study Connection salad shaker set.

Support for Magnet Programs Continues with Funding Change (Tuesday, January 23, 2018)

The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees on Monday, Jan. 22, asked the Indiana General Assembly to eliminate the Racial Balance Fund to better align with the school funding changes approved last year in HEA 1009.

FWCS Lottery to be Held Friday (Wednesday, January 17, 2018)

The Fort Wayne Community Schools lottery for all grade levels will be held Friday, Jan. 19, at the Family and Community Engagement Center, 230 E. Discovery Ed to Work with 7 Schools on STEM/STEAM Initiative (Tuesday, January 09, 2018)

The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees approved a four-year contract with Discovery Education to provide professional learning services and the development of a project- and inquiry-based learning system at seven schools.

Fruit Sale This Week at FWCS Career Academy (Tuesday, December 05, 2017)

The 28th Annual FWCS Career Academy fruit sale at the Bill C. Anthis Center begins Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Automotive Center on the corner of Lafayette and Lewis streets (enter on Lewis Street). Fruit will be sold Thursday afternoon until 5 p.m.; 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday; and 8:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, or until all the fruit is sold.

North Side Hosts Annual Kids Surviving Cancer Christmas Party (Monday, November 27, 2017)

North Side High School is preparing for the 31st annual Christmas Party for Kids Surviving Cancer. The celebration for children who have battled cancer and their families will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at North Side, 475 E. State Blvd.

Families Invited to See Schools During Tuesday Tours (Monday, November 13, 2017)

Families are invited to visit Fort Wayne Community Schools’ elementary, middle and high schools during Tuesday Tours on Nov. 14, 21 and 28 and Dec. 5 and 12.

FWCS, Teachers Reach Two-year Agreement (Monday, November 13, 2017)

Fort Wayne Community Schools and the Fort Wayne Education Association have agreed on a two-year contract ending June 30, 2019, that includes a new bachelor’s and master’s degree salary schedule that allows eligible teachers an opportunity to advance in salary each year.

Fort Wayne Community Schools will honor and celebrate Veterans Day with activities and events at every school in the District. Most schools will celebrate on Friday, Nov. 10, but because of scheduling conflicts, some will celebrate on other days. Author Visits Several Schools (Sunday, October 22, 2017)

Scott Savage, the author of several novels for middle-age students, including the FarWorld and Case File series, will visit several FWCS buildings to talk with students about reading, writing, creativity and changing the world. The visits precede Savage’s book signing from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Glenbrook Square Barnes & Noble. Guests Welcomed as Principal for a Day (Tuesday, October 17, 2017)

Fort Wayne Community Schools welcomes 54 community members into our schools to serve as guest principals for the annual Principal for a Day event. Snider Students Selected to Present at National Conference (Wednesday, October 04, 2017)

Students and teachers from Snider High School are among an elite group selected to present to more than 2,000 attendees at the national Project Lead The Way (PLTW) conference – PLTW Summit 2017 – in Orlando later this month. Dr. Wendy Robinson is Indiana Superintendent of the Year for 2018 (Tuesday, September 26, 2017)

Dr. Wendy Robinson, superintendent of Fort Wayne Community Schools, has been named the Indiana Superintendent of the Year for 2018 by the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents (IAPSS).

She becomes Indiana’s representative in the American Association of School Administrators National Superintendent of the Year program.

FWCS Budget Increases Slightly in 2018 (Tuesday, September 26, 2017)

The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees was presented a budget for 2018 on Monday that is 1.9 percent higher than the 2017 budget.

The 2018 budget anticipates an increase in student enrollment, which would mean an increase in state funding. As of the official count day, FWCS enrollment was up more than 150 students. The (read full article)

FWCS Enrollment Up for 2017-18 School Year (Thursday, September 14, 2017)

Enrollment at Fort Wayne Community Schools is up 156 students for the 2017-18 school year as of Friday, Sept. 15, the state’s official count day.

The district’s tentative official enrollment is 29,628, up from 29,472 last year. Schools now have two weeks after the count day to clean up data and make sure all students are accounted (read full article)

Neighborhood, Parents Invited to Center for Academic Success (Monday, September 11, 2017)

The new Center for Academic Success at Nebraska will be open to Nebraska Neighborhood residents and families of students attending the Center from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14.

Study Connection Kicks Off 29th Year with Annual Breakfast (Monday, August 28, 2017)

Study Connection will celebrate its 29th year of helping students with the Annual Celebration and Recognition Breakfast Thursday, Aug. 31. FWCS Students Prepared to View Eclipse (Friday, August 18, 2017)

Students at Fort Wayne Community Schools will have the opportunity to witness the solar eclipse in a variety of ways on Monday, Aug. 21. Enhanced STEM Curriculum Approved for Irwin Elementary (Thursday, August 17, 2017)

The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees approved a three-year contract with Discovery Education to provide professional learning services and the development of an enhanced STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) curriculum for Irwin Elementary.

Fort Wayne Community Schools’ employees will pack 300 backpacks Thursday, Aug. 10, with supplies, books and other items. The bags will be given to elementary school students who otherwise might not have new supplies to start the 2017-18 school year.

FWCS Buses Get Annual Check-up (Monday, July 24, 2017)

Fort Wayne Community Schools’ fleet of nearly 300 buses are getting checked from top to bottom this week to make sure they are ready for the first day of school Tuesday, Aug. 15.

Volunteers Spruce Up FWCS Buildings During Special Day of Caring (Tuesday, July 18, 2017)

Volunteers will clean, paint and spruce up the landscaping at nine Fort Wayne Community Schools buildings Thursday, July 20, as part of a special Day of Caring sponsored by United Way of Allen County.

FWCS Online Pre-registration Opens Today (Monday, June 19, 2017)

Fort Wayne Community Schools' convenient online pre-registration opens today, allowing current families to fill out routine registration forms online prior to in-school registration next month.

FWCS Staff Visiting Neighborhoods Wednesday (Monday, June 19, 2017)
