BREADCRUMB

Trailblazers

When parents and educators work as partners and not as adversaries, everyone and, most importantly, the child benefits.

Parents and guardians have the opportunity to serve as Trailblazers and further be a part of Fort Wayne Community Schools. The Parent/Guardian Trailblazer program equips parents and guardians with the knowledge and skills to support their children both academically and emotionally.

The program provides a structure for parents and guardians across the district to work together to empower their students to succeed in the classroom, in the community and in the broader world. Parent/Guardian Trailblazers work closely with the PTA, the College & Career Readiness Office, youth-serving organizations and their child's school to ensure that children are college and career ready.

Parents and guardians can benefit significantly by engaging in the academic journey of their student(s). Benefits include:

Support Academic Success - Collaborate with FWCS and community youth-serving organizations to determine the parental supports needed for students' academic success.

Better Understanding - Have a better understanding of FWCS curricular and co-curricular offerings.

Build Awareness of Resources - Become more aware of the resources that FWCS offers for both students and families.

Supportive Active Partnerships - Have supportive, active partnerships for student learning, success and college career planning.

Advocate for Students' Development - Advocate for students' academic, college and career development and social/emotional growth.

Deeper Educational Interaction - Enjoy and share a deeper educational interaction.

Connect with Other Parents - Connect with other parents/guardians across the district, providing a network for children, which is particularly important when they face academic hurdles or other challenges.
