Opportunities in FWCS
The program was incorporated as part of Fort Wayne Community Schools in 1992 and has garnered national acclaim as a highly successful education/business partnership. Each week, students who have been identified by teachers as needing extra help are bussed to the workplace of their tutors, area business people.
LTV 54/24 Education Access Channel
Fort Wayne’s K-12 Education Access Channel and is available to all Comcast and Verizon cable subscribers. Live, interactive shows take students on electronic field trips from the bottom of the ocean or to outer space.
United Way of Allen County
Committed to improving the reading skills of young children across Allen County through its Education Network. Helping children learn starts early with pre-natal care and continues through early childhood and school-age levels.
Blessings in a Backpack
Blessings in a Backpack is a food program that provides students in seven elementary schools (Abbett, Adams, Fairfield, Levan Scott, South Wayne, Study and Washington) with food to eat over the weekend.

YMCA
The YMCA provides extended childcare for students at several FWCS locations. In keeping with the YMCA mission, it values the lives of all children and works to enhance the quality of their experiences at every opportunity.
The History Center
Home to the Allen County-Fort Wayne Historical Society, its museum and its collection of more than 26,000 artifacts, photographs and documents representing the history of Fort Wayne and Allen County.
The League
The League offers services such as, braille production, sign language interpreting, and in-home care with the goal of independent living and full inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of community life.

Great Kids
Great KIDS make Great COMMUNITIES offers training on positive youth development concepts, supports the work of youth serving organizations, and seeks to create household recognition of the 40 Developmental Assets, as identified by Search Institute. Great KIDS is funded in part by a grant from Foellinger Foundation.
FWCS Clothing Bank
The Fort Wayne Community Schools Clothing Bank provides clothing to thousands of students each year. FWCS students receive clothes, shoes, coats, toiletries and other items as needed because of poverty or homelessness or following a disaster, such as a flood or fire. Students are referred to the clothing bank by a case manager or counselor at their school.
Volunteering/Field Trips
Fort Wayne Community Schools welcomes parents and guardians to participate in field trips and volunteer in the classroom. In an effort to keep all students safe, we require volunteers to participate in a background screening. Please contact your child’s school for information on how to complete that process.
Continuing Education/Neighborhood Connections
Fort Wayne Community Schools and the Department of Continuing Education/Neighborhood Connection exist to provide an educational outreach to the residents of Fort Wayne and surrounding areas. Our goal is provide current, affordable, high-quality educational and recreational opportunities and enable our residents to take advantage of our facilities.
Super Senior card
The Super Senior Card opens the doors of our schools to qualifying community members by allowing seniors in our community to attend many school events free of charge.
