Adult English Language Learners
The Adult ELL (English Language Learners) Program serves students 18 and older. The ELL Program is for adults learning the English language. It is divided into several levels depending on proficiency test scores in English. The ELL students progress through levels and work with Adult Continuing Education for additional career and postsecondary success.

Depending on their TABE and/or CLAS-E assessment and past educational experience, ELL students will be enrolled in a high school credit program, HSE program, or the ELL Program. Students that score high and/or have previous high school experience may enter our high school ELL credit program. Students who have a very high score and can work without ELL assistance can enter our regular high school diploma program.
Students that enroll in the ELL High School credit program transition from Fort Wayne Community Schools, High School ELL Programs or register during intake registration from community providers including churches, mission programs, and host families. Students move through the levels as their skills develop.
Students attend day credit classes Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:55 p.m. Student must reside within FWCS boundaries and must be 18 years or older or referred through any FWCS High School. Eligible students are too old to attend high school or test so low in English as to not be able to make progress in high school ELL classes.
