Fort Wayne Community Schools strives to operate with fiscal responsibility, integrity and effectiveness. The District budget focuses first on expenses that affect academic achievement.
In 2010-11, FWCS spent 69.6% of its budget in the classroom, compared to a state average of 58.6%. FWCS remains committed to maintaining a classroom spending level that is above the state average.
Money Saving Suggestions
Last year, FWCS began taking suggestions from employees on ways to save money in the district. That later expanded to taking suggestions from the entire community.
Below are the suggestions we received, separated by whether we used them or not and explanations for each. Another category includes suggestions we are still considering.
