From our award-winning homeless assistance program that provides stability to students in crisis, to overseeing the District's acclaimed school choice initiative, our department is working to ensure all FWCS students have the support they need to achieve academic success.

The director has overall responsibilities for the organization, direction and administration of all Student Services related functions of the school district, including attendance, clothing bank, discipline, health services, homeless program, placement, transfers and 504 placement. The director supervises the manager of pupil personnel, health services specialist and five administrative assistants.
Judy Platz, Manager
The manager is responsible for expulsion hearings for FWCS students, foreign exchange placements and assists with some aspects of student enrollment. The manager also is responsible for the enforcement of Indiana Compulsory Attendance Laws and maintaining attendance affidavits, and supervises the Section 504 placements.
Alice Andrews, Secretary
Alice Andrews assists the director with administrative duties in addition to clerical responsibilities. She serves as the lead secretary for the department, maintains all financial records and works on assignments as directed for the department. She is responsible for the processing, billing and record keeping of all transfer certificates from group homes, agencies, etc., and assists with work permits, due process, proof of residence affidavits and issues regarding guardianship.
Janet Daugherty, Secretary
Janet Daugherty is responsible for clerical functions as assigned. She maintains and is responsible for processing and scheduling all due process hearings. In addition, she processes and maintains records for all private tuition contracts.
Sheila Handlin, Secretary
Sheila Handlin is responsible for clerical functions as assigned. She processes elementary and secondary transfer requests and assists with student enrollment and address changes. She processes requests for early entrance waivers and home schooling, issues work permits, assists with residence verification and handles issues regarding guardianship. She maintains records for truancy affidavits that are filed with SOCAP.
Mary Hess, RN, BSN, NCSN, Health Specialist
The health specialist coordinates FWCS student health services in accordance with district policy and Indiana State Laws. She is responsible for the selection and assignment of nurses, system of record keeping, state and local reports and the development of applicable policies. She serves as the liaison for FWCS with Parkview and other community health agencies and provides nursing services for the Anthis Career Center.
Jessie Tarkington, Secretary
Jessie Tarkington is responsible for all clerical functions as assigned by the health services specialist in preparing district and state reports.
School Nurses
School nurses provides health services to students and serve as a health consultants to students and staff. They maintains cumulative health records for students and serve as liaisons between the school, home and public health/welfare agencies on matters related to student health.
George A. Fields, Jr., Homeless Liaison
The homeless liaison assists schools and shelter staff with issues related to homeless students by serving as a liaison between schools, shelters and community agencies. The liaison also coordinates the enrollment process for homeless students which includes securing school records. The liaison also collects data and maintains records for state reports, works closely with the Transportation Department in scheduling transportation for homeless students and promotes the program with community agencies.
Corey Martin, Administrative Assistant
Corey Martin provides assistance in the placement, transition and services for elementary students participating in magnet schools and racial balance transfers.

Kayata Earley provides assistance in the placement, transition and services for elementary students participating in magnet schools and racial balance transfers.
Jennifer Schuler, Coordinator
Jennifer Schuler is responsible for the daily operation of the FWCS/PTA Clothing Bank. Her duties include promoting the program to local businesses, churches and community organizations, serves as the liaison between FWCS and the PTA, and maintains all records related to the clothing bank.
